Our year 6 children kicked off the Schools’ Yorkshire Tour for 2018 on Tuesday (5th June) morning by delivering the baton to Pickering Railway station for its trip to Whitby. The baton will travel 640kms (400 miles) having started in Pickering , the tour finishes in Leeds on Tuesday 3rd July 2018.
It was an exciting morning with a film crew from BBC Look North visiting the school to talk with the cyclists and film them setting off from our school. The whole school came out to wave them off. The excitement continued with a radio interview for Radio York, talking about the experience, the school’s involvement and the importance of safe cycling. The children had a real buzz, especially when they got home and could see themselves on TV—famous!
